Addicted to Noise: 2/2/97 2/2/97

Addicted To Noise staff writer Gil Kaufman reports: The second Mad Season album seems to be experiencing a difficult birth. The group, whose debut, Above, was released in 1995 and featured Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, the Screaming Trees' Barrett Martin and Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley, is now apparently down to McCready and Martin, and, according to a source.

Reports (including one in ATN last Oct.) that the new CD would contain vocals from both Staley and Trees singer Mark Lanegan, are not true. At one point it was rumored that the collection might be a double-CD with each singer doing vocals over the instrumental tracks, which have already been finished. Now, the source told ATN, neither singer will appear on the still-untitled album and McCready is in talks with a number of prospective singers, none of whom have signed on just yet. Hey, we hear some former Van Halen and Motley Crue vocalists are looking for work...
